No. The Combo Bracket must be used to collect any water that drains through or around the joist.

No. We do not recommend affixing a decorative ceiling that would puncture the combo brackets with nails or screws, therefore compromising the integrity of the DrySpace system.

TimberTech DeckCleaner™ will not damage the DrySpace system, and it can actually be used to clean the surface of DrySpace. Any other cleaners should be verified to be vinyl-safe before using.

Yes, TimberTech recommends our Cortex® hidden fastener system, which conceals the screws with plugs made from our decking. Our Cortex fasteners are offered with a 2½” screw, and we also offer a version of Cortex with a 2” screw designed specifically for cladding applications over block construction. Other hidden fasteners, like TimberTech’s CONCEALoc or FUSIONLoc fasteners or any competitive hidden fasteners are not recommended for the cladding application.

Yes, our code compliance research report requires a minimum of 2×4 PT furring strips. Our experience with smaller or thinner furring strips is they split and lose their holding power.

Each application is entirely different. The substructure must be built to be weatherproof. Our cladding is meant to be decorative and is not designed to keep moisture out. It is up to the architect, engineer, installer, and local code official to ensure the structure is weather-tight and meets code.

Deck boards from our TimberTech Advanced PVC line can be used as cladding, however deck boards from our TimberTech Composite line are not currently supported by our testing or a Code Compliance Research Report.

Yes, we’re committed to offering sustainable products and doing the right thing for the environment. TimberTech Composite decking are made from up to 80% recycled materials, and TimberTech Advanced PVC decking is made from up to 54% recycled materials. We manufacture all products to be highly resistant to mold and other damage from moisture. In rare cases and depending on environmental conditions (temperature, moisture in the air, etc.), mold and mildew could appear on any outdoor surface. If mold occurs on the surface of TimberTech decking, it does not penetrate through the deck board. Surface mold and mildew on TimberTech decking can be removed using TimberTech DeckCleaner or a 1-to-4 mixture of bleach and water.

TimberTech Composite boards are made of a combination of recycled plastic and wood fibers with a protective outer cap, while our TimberTech Advanced PVC boards are made of capped polymer material.
